Manual Treatments & Pregnancy
During pregnancy, your body faces significant challenges from hormonal changes and shifts in posture. A loss of mobility during this time can affect not only the expectant mother's quality of life, but also the development and movement of the unborn child.
I use gentle yet targeted techniques carefully adapted to your body, drawing on methods from (foot) reflexology, craniosacral therapy, and osteopathy. These treatments help the body regain its natural freedom of movement, making it easier to adapt to the changes pregnancy brings. Gentle stretches and mobilizations can help relieve back pain as well as discomfort in the pelvic and groin areas.
Digestive issues such as bloating and acid reflux can also be positively influenced by relaxing the diaphragm. In addition, stimulating blood and lymph flow can provide relief for sore breasts, calf cramps, and dizziness.
General indications during pregnancy
During pregnancy, your body is required to perform at its best due to hormonal changes and postural adjustments. Loss of movement during this time can not only affect the expectant mother's quality of life but also negatively impact the development and mobility of the unborn child.
General problems of the musculoskeletal system
- Headache
- Back pain with radiations
- Tensions, diffuse back and neck pain
- Acute complaints «lumbago» or «dislocations»
- Supportive treatment for chronic complaints (Tendonitis – Carpal tunnel syndrome)
General problems of the visceral area
- Respiratory system; support with shortness of breath
- Digestive system; flatulence - constipation - heartburn
- Urogenital system; menstrual cramps - stress incontinence
Stress reduction – reduced vital capacity and performance

The Ideal Birth Preparation
Before birth, it's especially important to relax the pelvic region and the diaphragm. Optimal pelvic mobility makes it easier for the baby to move through the birth canal, while a flexible diaphragm improves the expectant mother's breathing, supporting more powerful and efficient pushing during contractions.
When can you start treatment?
There's no fixed starting point, but many pregnant women benefit from beginning treatment in the first trimester, especially for complaints such as back pain, tension, or nausea. Even without symptoms, it's advisable to schedule an appointment by week 20 to help prepare your body optimally for the changes ahead.
For targeted birth preparation, I recommend starting treatments from week 34 onward, giving your body enough time to respond fully to the therapy.
Can our treatments help induce labor?
A treatment around or even after your due date can be very helpful in ensuring your body is fully prepared for labor and delivery. While I don't directly induce labor, I do use a few gentle techniques that can support the body's natural process
Postpartum Treatments
After a spontaneous birth
During a spontaneous birth, the pelvis is subjected to significant stress. This stress, combined with hormonally loosened ligaments and the weakening of the abdominal and back muscles, can lead to pelvic blockages. Such blockages are often the cause of back pain and irritation of the sciatic nerve.
After a caesarean Section
After a cesarean section, the healing process can affect the tissue. Scar tissue contracts and impacts blood flow and muscle mobility. These restrictions can lead to tension and changes in posture.
More Efficient Postpartum Recovery
A check-up after birth not only promotes your well-being but also supports faster recovery. By restoring your mobility, the postpartum recovery process can be accelerated, allowing you to achieve results more quickly and feel more vital.
