Supplementary insurances cover parts of the costs for osteopathy
Cost coverage for osteopathy
In Switzerland, the profession of osteopath and the therapy are recognised as an independent medical profession and osteopathy is recognised as an alternative medicine..
The treatment costs are reimbursed by the health insurance companies via the voluntary supplementary insurance for alternative and complementary medicine. As a rule, 70 to 90 percent of the costs are reimbursed.
As a rule, no medical referral is required for osteopathy.
As a rule, you do not need a doctor’s referral, but we recommend that you contact your health insurance company in advance to find out how much of the costs will be covered.
